ROGER
HODGSON -
OPEN THE DOOR TOUR Hi Jordi ! Here are Jérôme, Danny and Christophe. This is our report on last night Roger Hodgson show in Paris. First impression : GGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ! IT WAS SO GREAT ! The crowd was absolutely fabulous,
the show was sold out 15 days before without
any real promotion in France. So there were 1.500 real fans, perfectly
knowing all the songs. Roger sang during 2 hours. In fact, the audience
also sang during 2 hours ! " In Jeopardy", "Death and a Zoo", "School", "Hide in your shell", "Breakfast in America", "Logical song", "Take the long way home", "Rosy had everything planned", "Open the door", "Fool's overture", "Sister Moonshine", "Lord is it mine", "Easy does it", "Love is a thousand times", "Along came Mary", "Give a little bit", "Only because of you", "Say Goodbye", "Dreamer", "It's raining again", "Don't leave me now", "Two of us", "Lonely child" Other facts : That's all folks ! Sure you will enjoy
the Madrid show ! Hi Jordi
How are you?
It took a while to
get the pictures and there were some problems with my PC, but......here's
my report of Paris with some pictures.
As Bertrand Milliard
already wrote an excellent report (thanks Bertrand!) about a fabulous
Roger in the Bataclan, I'll limit myself to a report about the atmosphere
during our stay in Paris, illustrated with some pictures.
Saturday.
We (Johan, Gertrude, Monique, Hans, Kimmy, Andy and Peggy) arrived
at about 16.00 hours in Paris at the house of Christophe's mother,
a real beautiful place to stay. Later Jerome from Paris arrived too
and together we went to the airport to pick up Sarah from England.
Then we went 'home' again, where Christophe and Claire were arrived
too in the meantime. No need to say how great it was to see everybody
again after our last time in Rennes :-)) We had a lot to talk about
and to listen to......
Sunday. Murielle
Lafont (from the websites :-), Gudrun, Fabrice and Jeriby (from Mulhouse)
arrived at the house too. Lots of talks and listening to Roger's music
again. It's so special to see all those devoted fans together sharing
their beloved music :-)
But...as we promised
to make pictures of the Tour Eiffel for the BIS site, we (most of
us) left in the afternoon to do so. The weather was fine and after
we saw the Arc de Triomph and walked over the Champ d'Elysee where
we bought the FNAC empty :-)) , we went to the Tour Eiffel by metro.
Gosh, it was huge!! And very impressive. Some of us went up to the
highest level possible. Wauw, what a view, incredible!!! And what
a big, big city!!!! As it was getting late and colder up there, we
left to search for a restaurant, because we were so HUNGRY! After
a good meal at a Chinese restaurant we went home, very tired. Tomorrow
is the big day.........
Monday!!! The great
day!!!!! After having a wonderful French breakfast again (just
couldn't stop eating :-) we were viewing the Excalibur show on video
for the first time. Well, that was a lot of fun! We saw ourselves
back on screen with all the sparklers, time after time! It was so
funny :-)) We decided to negotiate with Alan Simon about the royalties
for the sparkling effects :-)) And then we went off for the Bataclan.
The traffic was heavy, but finally we arrived. After parking the cars
we took a coffee on the terrazzo of the Bataclan café, next door.
We already knew Roger would arrive around 16.00 hours, so this was
a good place to wait. In the meanwhile Benoit and his son (how was
so lucky to play the drums with Roger later that night :-) from Brussels
arrived too. And than.....a big black car stopped in front of our
terrazzo, and guess how got out?????? Yes!!!! Roger!!!!!! And Karuna,
Alan and Daniella too. Roger was busy getting his things at first,
but then he turned around and saw us.......Well, you should have seen
his face.......he was so surprised!!!! And we're very happy to see
Roger!!! We said hello and talked a little, and then Roger had to
get in for the soundcheck. He was a little nervous because of 'the
big night' so he didn't want anyone around him during the soundcheck,
which was very understandable.
So Monique and I
went looking for flowers (it seems that is a Dutch habit :-) for Roger,
and found some. After that some of us took something to eat, while
others were already waiting before the Bataclan doors. And after a
while there was a really large queue. At about 19.30 hours the doors
opened and we hurried in to get a spot in front of he stage. There
we had to wait for about an hour, so we started singing a Supertramp
medley :-))
And than......there
he was........Roger!!!! 1500 fans greeted him SO enthusiastic,
Roger was really overwhelmed!!! Roger was in such a good shape!! During
the show he thanked Karuna and his mother (she was present too) 'because
if it wasn't for her, he wouldn't be there at the first place :-))'
So the audience clapped for his mother too, so nice :-)
And thát atmosphere
was there all night. Sometimes Roger had to stop the audience, otherwise
he couldn't play :-) The show it self wasn't that much different from
former shows -except for the great lightshow- but I never saw such
an audience before at Roger's shows!!! 1500 enthusiastic people came
to see Roger!!! It was so great for Roger!!!!
After the show there was no possibility
to see Roger, because of a cocktailparty. But we were so lucky to
see him leave after the party and let him know how great the show
was!!! And then he and Karuna left...........
We really had a great
time in Paris, although I must say I missed our Spanish friends!!!!
:-))) But it's such a wonderful city, so alive! And all
those beautiful buildings! I hope Roger will come back in Paris in
time, because we didn't have enough time now to see it all :-))
But first I'm looking forward to Amsterdam! I hope to see a lot of
you there too!!!!!! Till then :-))
All the best from
Peggy
